The representative body for Karate in the North of Ireland, the UKC leads the development of Karate as a Sport and Martial Art. The UKC welcomes applications for membership from Clubs and Associations interested in developing Karate. The UKC works hard to build friendships, support structures and partnerships that enable the positive growth of Karate as a sport and a martial art from 'grass roots' to elite levels within the North of Ireland and throughout the world.

The UKC is the representative body for Karate in Northern Ireland and has members from all the major systems and styles in the province.

The objectives of the UKC:-

1. promote the sport and practice of karate-do
2. provide members with such services and support as may be available through their membership of the UKC
3. raise, administer, and expend funds at its discretion
4. affiliate to other organisations with similar objectives to promote the sport and practice of Karate-Do
5. do all things as are incidental or conducive to the furtherance of the objectives of the UKC

THe UKC team returned sucessfully from the WKC World championships in Serbia. Cathy McAleer won Gold in the Ladies Wado Kata while reigning World Champion David Brashaw won both the Male Wado and Vetern Wado titles. In addition the UKC ladies team picked up a bronze medal in the team sanbon kumite.

The UKC took a group of 14 competitors to the recent World Championships in Hanover Germany. The team successfully returned with 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals....fantastic!!!
